Short answer
What happens if a staff cab breaks down?
We send a backup car, which typically reaches a plant shift within about an hour, and call or WhatsApp your coordinator straight away. If a driver is absent or too tired to drive, a replacement driver or car is sent. Every breakdown, cancellation and replacement is recorded in a written log you can see.
Some of our cars and drivers are based near Sanand and the rest of the fleet runs from Ahmedabad, so a backup for a Sanand gate usually comes from nearby rather than from across the state. The plan we agree per location says where the backup comes from, which vehicle replaces which, and when your coordinator hears about it. The aim is that a breakdown changes one pickup time, not a whole shift.
By event
What is the response to each kind of problem?
Each common event has a set response, so nobody improvises at 5 AM.
| Event | Our response | Your coordinator hears |
|---|---|---|
| Car breaks down before pickup | Backup car sent | Immediately, with the new arrival time |
| Car breaks down with staff on board | Passengers kept safe, backup car sent | Immediately |
| Driver absent or unwell | Replacement driver or car | Before the pickup time if known |
| Driver too tired after duties | Driver replaced; rest between duties is a rule | Only if timings change |
| Accident | Safety first, replacement car, company informed | Right away |
Before it happens
What prevents breakdowns in the first place?
Routine checks. Most breakdowns that stop a shift are the kind a pre-trip check would have caught.
Every shift
- Pre-trip vehicle check: tyres, fuel, lights
- Spare tyre with jack and tools in every car
- Rest between duties; a tired driver is replaced
On a schedule
- Cars serviced and checked regularly
- Service and inspection records per car, open to companies
- Notice before any vehicle document is due for renewal
Questions & answers

From plant admin and HR.
How fast will a backup car arrive?
Typically within about an hour for a plant shift. The plan agreed for your location sets out where the backup comes from.
Will we be told if a car is going to be late?
Yes. Our office calls or WhatsApps your coordinator as soon as a trip is delayed or cancelled.
Can we see how often cars broke down?
Yes. We keep a written log of breakdowns, cancellations and replacement cars, and service records per car.
Can backup arrangements be part of the SLA?
Yes. Replacement time and the number of breakdowns can be written into the SLA with service credits.
What if the backup car is a different type?
The plan says which vehicle replaces which and how many seats the replacement must have.
