This guide is for companies buying transport. Car owners: we run our own fleet and are not adding cars from owners at the moment (why).
Quick answer
Manage night-shift transport risk with five controls: rested drivers (rest between duties, tired drivers replaced), safe route and drop rules (agreed drop order and last-passenger rule), live GPS tracking with no unapproved route changes, a 24/7 escalation path to a named coordinator, and a backup vehicle plan. Female drivers are available on request.
Chapter 01
What are the main risks in night-shift transport?
Driver fatigue, the last drop, dark or isolated pickup points, breakdowns at night and delays nobody hears about.
| Risk | Control | Who owns it |
|---|---|---|
| Driver fatigue | Rest between duties; tired driver replaced; daily driving-hours limit | Vendor |
| Last drop | Drop order and last-passenger rule in the policy | Company sets, vendor applies |
| Dark pickup points | Pickup points chosen for safety, not only convenience | Both |
| Breakdown at night | Backup plan per location | Vendor |
| Unreported delay | Call or WhatsApp to the coordinator straight away | Vendor |
| Route deviation | No change without office approval; GPS record | Vendor |
Chapter 02
How do you manage driver risk at night?
Rest between duties, a daily driving-hours limit, a pre-trip check, briefing and quick action on complaints.
- Rest between duties: a tired driver is replaced, not pushed.
- A daily driving-hours limit applies.
- Pre-trip check of tyres, fuel and lights before each shift.
- Briefing on customer service and safe driving before company routes.
- Uniform and ID card on company routes, so staff and security know the driver.
- Serious complaint: the driver is taken off that company's route.
Chapter 03
What rules should cover night drops?
The drop order, what happens with the last passenger, how long the driver waits, and when the driver reports a completed drop.
These rules belong in the company's transport policy, and the vendor applies them on every trip. Common points to decide:
- Drop order for each route, set in advance.
- Last-passenger rule: what your policy requires when one employee is left in the vehicle.
- Doorstep or point drop: where the drop happens at night.
- Waiting: the driver waits until the employee is inside where your policy says so.
- Female drivers on request.
See women employee transport and transport for night-shift offices.
Chapter 04
How should tracking and escalation work at night?
GPS on every vehicle, a portal login for your security team, one 24/7 number and a named coordinator who is called first.
At night the rule is simple: if something changes, someone on your side hears about it from us first. Our night dispatch rule
- GPS on every vehicle, with live location and trip history for your team.
- One number, 24/7: +91 99745 30788.
- Coordinator first: we call or WhatsApp your coordinator as soon as a trip is delayed or cancelled.
- Backup: a replacement vehicle under the backup plan for that location.
- Confidential reports: employees can report a safety concern directly to our owner.
Chapter 05
How do you build a night-shift transport risk plan?
List the risks per route, write the rules, agree the escalation path, test it on a night ride, and review monthly.
- List the risks per route. Pickup points, last drops, road conditions.
- Write the rules. Drop order, last-passenger rule, waiting, female drivers if needed.
- Agree the escalation path. Names and numbers on both sides, in order.
- Ride a night route. Someone from HR or security, unannounced if you like.
- Review monthly. Incidents, complaints, late drops and actions.
