The day
How does the day run?
Three blocks: the heritage park, the hill, the city.

Champaner heritage park
Leave Ahmedabad by 6:30 AM, about 3 hours. The Jami Masjid, the Saher ki Masjid and the city walls of the archaeological park, best seen in the morning light.
- Stop2
Pavagadh hill and Mahakali
The car drives to Machi; from there the ropeway (or the steps) to the Mahakali temple at the top. Lunch at Machi or on the way down.

Vadodara and home
About 1 hour to Vadodara for the Laxmi Vilas Palace or Sayaji Baug, then the expressway back to Ahmedabad, about 2 hours.

A full day is billed at the route distance or 300 km, whichever is more, plus ₹300 driver allowance: ₹3,960 in a sedan, ₹4,265 in an Ertiga, ₹5,790 in an Innova Crysta. Agencies get a lower agent rate on request.

Planning notes
What should you plan around?
Navratri crowds, the ropeway and the heat.
- Navratri and full moons: Pavagadh is one of Gujarat's busiest Shakti temples; on Navratri days and full moons the ropeway queue can take hours. Pick another date for sightseeing guests.
- The climb: from the ropeway top station there are still steps to the temple; tell older guests in advance.
- Heat: the archaeological park has little shade; the morning is the best time, which is why it comes first.
- Make it two days: add the Statue of Unity with a night at Kevadia; see the 2-day tour.
