Hansalpur: the automotive manufacturing hub
Hansalpur is a village near Becharaji in Gujarat. It has become well known because Suzuki Motor Gujarat built its plant here, one of India's biggest car factories. What was a quiet farming village is now the centre of automotive manufacturing in Gujarat.
Hansalpur lies in the Mandal Becharaji Special Investment Region (MBSIR), spread over about 101 to 102 square kilometres north-west of Ahmedabad. Phase one is complete, and it has attracted leading companies such as Maruti Suzuki and Honda.

Suzuki Motor Gujarat
Suzuki Motor Gujarat Private Limited (SMG) is owned by Maruti Suzuki India Limited and located at Hansalpur, near Becharaji. The plant opened on 1 February 2017, and since its fourth plant (Plant D, building the e VITARA electric SUV) started on 30 July 2026 it can build 1 million cars a year (Suzuki, 30 July 2026).
SMG passed 3 million cumulative production in 6 years and 11 months, the fastest in any Suzuki production plant. The 3 millionth car was the Fronx.

MBSIR industrial development
