TDSG: pioneering battery manufacturing in India
TDS Lithium-Ion Battery Gujarat Private Limited (TDSG) is a joint venture of Toshiba Corporation, Denso Corporation and Suzuki Motor Corporation. It is India's first large-scale lithium-ion battery manufacturing facility, with a focus on cell-level localisation, and it fits the "Make in India" vision.
The plant sits in the Maruti Suzuki Supplier Park in Becharaji, Gujarat. It makes lithium-ion battery packs mainly for Smart Hybrid vehicles, which supports India's move to cleaner cars.

Location and supply chain
TDSG is inside the Maruti Suzuki Supplier Park in Becharaji, close to the SMG plant it supplies. That short distance keeps deliveries quick and lets the plant get batteries when it needs them. It also sits among other automotive component makers, which helps the whole supply chain.
The plant employs skilled staff in battery manufacturing, quality control and technical support, and follows Japanese manufacturing principles, including continuous improvement (kaizen).
