Short answer

Do you provide buses and Tempo Travellers for staff transport?

Yes. We run our own Tempo Travellers and buses for Sanand plant shifts, usually on routes where many employees can board along one road, such as from Sanand town, Viramgam or a collection point in Ahmedabad. Seats and rates are quoted on call, and the vehicles sit on the same contract and invoice as the cars.

A bus is the cheapest way to move people per seat, but only when it fills. On a route where employees live along one road it fills easily. Where homes are scattered, a bus either takes too long collecting everyone or forces people to walk to a stop, often in the dark. Most Sanand plants end up with a mix: buses on the dense routes and cars or Ertigas on the rest.

Choosing

When does a bus beat several cars?

When the route is dense and the timings are fixed.

Dense, fixed route

Tempo Traveller or bus

  • Lowest cost per seat when full
  • One vehicle to manage
  • Collection points along one road
  • Fixed stops, longer walks
Scattered homes

Cars and Ertigas

  • Door-to-door
  • Quicker at night
  • Sized per cluster
  • More vehicles to manage

Setup

How is a bus route set up?

Map where people board, pick collection points, set the timing and confirm the vehicle.

  1. Map the headcount. How many board in each area, per shift.
  2. Pick collection points. Safe, lit points along the main road.
  3. Set the timing. Worked back from the gate and the shift change.
  4. Confirm vehicle and price. Tempo Traveller or bus, quoted for the route.
  5. Run and review. Trip records show who boards where.
