About Kankaria Lake
Kankaria Lake was built in 1451 by Sultan Qutb-ud-din Ahmad Shah II and is one of Ahmedabad’s most visited recreational spots today. The lakefront includes a walking promenade, a toy train, a balloon safari and the adjoining Kamla Nehru Zoological Garden.
What to see and plan for
The lakefront alone takes 1 to 2 hours to walk properly; the zoo is a separate stop next door.
Visiting tips
Evenings are best, when the promenade is lit up and food stalls open; weekends get considerably busier than weekdays.
