Two terminals at SVPI airport
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport, on the northwest side of Ahmedabad, runs two separate terminal buildings: Terminal 1 for domestic flights and Terminal 2 for international flights. They are not the same building with different gates — they are physically separate, a few kilometres apart, and knowing which one you need before you travel saves a confused last-minute dash across the airport.
This matters just as much for someone picking you up as it does for you flying out: if a driver waits at the wrong terminal, you can miss each other entirely.
Terminal 1: domestic flights
Terminal 1 handles all domestic departures and arrivals — flights to and from other Indian cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata and the rest of the domestic network. If your entire journey stays within India, this is your terminal, both for check-in when flying out and for arrivals when flying in.
Terminal 2: international flights
Terminal 2 handles international departures and arrivals — flights to and from destinations outside India, including the Gulf routes that are common for Gujarati NRI travellers, as well as connections to Europe, Southeast Asia and beyond. International arrivals go through immigration and customs here before reaching the public arrivals area, which typically adds more time than a domestic arrival at Terminal 1.

Which terminal do I need?
Check your flight ticket or boarding pass — it should state the terminal directly, or you can tell by the route: any flight within India is Terminal 1, and any flight crossing an international border is Terminal 2. If you booked through a travel agent or are unsure, your airline's website or a quick call to us with your flight number will confirm it.
Connecting between terminals
If you are on a connecting itinerary that lands domestically and continues internationally (or vice versa), you may need to move between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, which are a few kilometres apart on the airport grounds, not walkable. If your booking involves this kind of connection, tell us in advance — we can plan a transfer between terminals as part of the same trip rather than you arranging it separately.
Where your taxi meets you
The pickup process is identical at both terminals: your driver waits at the arrivals exit for whichever terminal your flight uses, with a name board if you requested one. The only practical difference is timing — we build extra buffer into international (Terminal 2) pickups for immigration and customs, and less into domestic (Terminal 1) pickups. - Share your flight number and route. We confirm whether it is Terminal 1 or Terminal 2.
- Tell us if you're connecting between terminals, so we can plan the transfer.
- We track your flight and adjust the pickup time to the terminal you land at.
