Adalaj Stepwell: what to know before you go
Construction began in 1498 under Rana Veer Singh, and was finished by his widow, Rani Rudabai, after his death. Five storeys deep and carved in a mix of Hindu, Jain and Islamic motifs, it's one of the most photographed stepwells in Gujarat.
