Sun Temple: what to know before you go
Built around 1026-27 CE by the Solanki king Bhima I, this temple has no idol in its sanctum today. Its real draw is the alignment: the Surya Kund's stepped tank, the assembly hall and the shrine sit on one line, precise enough that sunlight used to fill the inner chamber at the equinox.
