# Long-term and fleet contracts: better rates, in writing

Companies that commit to a longer transport contract or to several vehicles get better rates from Shiv Shakti Tours & Travels, quoted per company rather than from a fixed discount table. Annual contracts can also carry agreed cost-reduction targets, backed by utilisation and fuel reports.

We do not publish a percentage: the rate depends on vehicles, routes, hours and contract length.

## Do long transport contracts get better rates?

Yes. Long contracts and requirements for many vehicles get better rates from Shiv Shakti Tours & Travels, quoted per company. In an annual contract we can also agree cost-reduction targets, tracked through utilisation reports (vehicle use, seat occupancy, monthly spend per plant) and fuel use per vehicle.

- **Per company**: Rate quote, in writing
- **Annual**: Cost-reduction targets possible
- **Seat**: Occupancy reported on request
- **Fuel**: Use per vehicle on request

A longer commitment lets us plan drivers, backup cars and servicing a year ahead instead of month to month, and that planning is what makes a lower rate sustainable. The same logic runs the other way: a rate cut that the vendor cannot sustain usually returns as older cars, tired drivers and missed pickups by the third month, which costs a plant far more than the saving.

## What actually lowers the cost of a transport contract?

Fewer vehicle-kilometres and fuller vehicles. Rate cuts are the smallest lever; route design and seat use are the biggest.

| Lever | How it saves | Report that shows it |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Contract length | Better rate quoted for a longer commitment | Contract terms |
| Number of vehicles | Better rate for a larger fleet | Contract terms |
| Fuller vehicles | Fewer vehicles for the same staff | Seat occupancy report |
| Shorter routes | Fewer kilometres per shift | Trip-wise km records |
| Shift timing | Fewer trips in the 10 PM–6 AM window | Trip records by time |
| Right-sized vehicles | Ertiga or Tempo Traveller instead of two sedans | Utilisation report |

## How do cost-reduction targets work in an annual contract?

Take a baseline, agree a target and the levers, and review the reports each quarter or month as agreed.

- **Set the baseline.** Current vehicles, kilometres and monthly spend per plant.
- **Agree the target.** A cost-reduction target written into the annual contract.
- **Choose the levers.** Route redesign, vehicle sizing, seat use, shift timing.
- **Report.** Utilisation and fuel reports on the agreed rhythm.
- **Review.** Compare against the baseline and adjust routes.

## Long-term rate questions

From procurement and finance.

### What discount do you give for a one-year contract?

We do not publish a fixed percentage. Long contracts and multi-vehicle requirements get better rates, quoted per company in writing.

### Can the rate fall during the contract?

Savings in an annual contract usually come from agreed cost-reduction targets, such as fewer kilometres or fuller vehicles, tracked in the reports.

### Which reports show where money goes?

Utilisation reports (vehicle use, seat occupancy, monthly spend per plant) and fuel use per vehicle, both on request, plus trip-wise records.

### Is a longer contract riskier for us?

The agreement sets the length, renewal and terms, a pilot can come first, and vendor audits are allowed throughout.

### Do several units count together for volume?

Yes, if they are under one agreement; the invoice can still be split by plant or cost centre.
